I started dancing tango 10 years ago in NYC. Several years into it, I have become obsessed with learning tango orchestras. As a dancer, I believe that thorough knowledge of music is integral to one’s dancing, both for leading and following. When I get a new tango song, I listen to it upwards of twenty times in a row, in order to learn every secret beat, every syncopa. DJ-ing at milongas allows me to share my joy of continually discovering the beauty that is classical tango with my fellow tango dancers. I particularly love the Golden 40’s orchestras, especially the brilliant vocals of Campos, Castillo, and Rufino.
