About the 2021 Phoenix 4th of July Tango Festival

The 2021 Phoenix 4th of July Tango Festival is a gender balanced, attendance restricted - capped at 300 - event being held at the Tempe Mission Palms Hotel during the July 4th  weekend.  This is an extremely restricted event.  Everything possible will be done to make it a safe event for participants and non-participants.  All attendees must agree to and adhere to all protocols.  There will be no exceptions.  Anyone not adhering to the protocols agreed to will be removed from the event. We will do everything possible to maintain the "feel" that we have all come to enjoy about this dance but be aware that the near future of dancing together is being tested.  We believe we have put together protocols that can be duplicated and allow dancing to resume. All attendees must do their part to help that become a reality. In order to complete the registration process you must acknowledge your acceptance of both the Covid-19 Waiver Agreement and Event Protocols Agreement. These are the maximum restrictions.  If the situation allows we will ease or remove any restrictions possible.  These changes will be made at our discretion based on information from the science community that is advising us.

These are some basic things that will be implemented if necessary.

The complete list of protocols that attendees have to agree to are on the registration page.

1) The ballroom and dance floor will be large compared to the allowed number of attendees. If registration dictates, a second space will be added.

2) Cortinas will be a full minute to allow time to wash hands with every partner change.

3) Attendees will maintain the same seat for each milonga.  Less chairs per table.

4) No seats will be right against the floor.  This area will be reserved for handwashing stations.

5) There will be no communal food served.  All snacks will be pre-wrapped individual items.

We will eliminate any protocols that we can based on the situation at the time.

Please consider staying at the hotel to support their efforts in helping us get back to dancing. They have made many concessions to help make this happen and minimize the risk to us, the organizers. Each room will go towards reducing or eliminating the ballroom fees. Staying together as a group also minimizes the chances of a transmission from outside.

The Mission Palms Hotel in Tempe is in the Mill Avenue District on the campus of Arizona State University.  The Mill Avenue District is an awesome University strip with restaurants, shops and cafes.

Hotel rate is $106 per night for up to 4 people plus taxes. Resort fees have been waived. All parking fees are waived for all attendees whether they are staying at the hotel or not. Rooms will be available to book starting Feb 1st.
